I'll let Scott or Rob handle the questions you guys might have but I will say you can be assured that anyone we catch spamming, creating multiple accounts, posting referrals ect have been or will be banned and their posts deleted and of course they won't be paid.

I was just wondering where we stand on making changes? Personally I'm in favor of something along the lines of ccengineer's plan. Rewards given for the quality rather than the quantity of posts. IMO 5 great deals that get a ton of views/responses is better than 10 "ok" deals that get a few views. That would help ensure we get more high quality deals posted as well as hopefully cutting some of the reposts and some of the potential spam

I think a reward based on quality would also open the door for other users to get in on rewards. Instead of a pay/post go back to the monthly giveaway and do something like a deal of the week/month reward for the hottest post each week or each month. It doesn't have to be a TV or big ticket item but something smaller.

I disagree. I think paying people based on quality is unfair. Just because a post does not have a lot of views, it doesn't mean it's not a good deal. I think it would be unfair to people who post pretty good deals with less views. I also think the monthly giveaway idea with prizes is a bad idea. Not everyone who put the time and effort in would get their compensation. The idea of giving prizes to the post with the most views or the hottest post is unfair because other people who posted great deals wouldn't get anything for their work. I think the current system is perfect and works fine. I think that the spam posts should just be deleted and once the spammers are identified, they should be banned and not get any money. I really think the current system is perfect for dealighted.

But see the thing is if you are posting great high quality deals then the number of views is inevitably going to be higher than that of a lesser deal. I think if anything rewarding for quality is more fair to everyone. Think of it this way, or at least this is how I think of it.

Why should user A that posted an ok deal be paid the same as user B that puts a little more work into it and posts a great deal?

To me that doesn't seem fair to user B that is probably working harder to find these great deals. If you knew you might get a little better reward for taking top spot each week then wouldn't you dig a little harder to find an amazing deal?

If we did a weekly give away along with some type of monthly quality program everyone posting great deals is still going to be rewarded but that user working harder to come up with extremely good deals gets rewarded a little more than someone just posting an avg deal.

edit: Just wanted to say, really everyone of our current members should be posting good high quality deal anyways. So every deal should be capable of hitting the hot deals section. I'm just shooting out and idea that might help curb some of the fly be postings of a ton of not so great deals. Spam isn't the only thing we have to watch out for

It's really too bad that people have to spoil a good thing just to be greedy. I have to agree with sona's post. A reward for the most views can get exploited as much as anything else. People can have friends/family or whoever come and view their post to get high post views just so that they could win the reward. I don't think that would work any better than the reward system that is in place now.

I don't really understand what the problem is with the way the system is right now. It was already stated that spam posts will be deleted, and in the rules it states they will only pay the first 100 posts per day that meet their requirements. People who are just here to spam would get their posts deleted and wouldn't be eligible for rewards anyways, correct? I think it would be better to just approve posts as either pay worthy or not, and if something is found at a lower price elsewhere then that post would not be approved to be paid. Maybe I am missing something...just my 2 cents.

Spam isn't the only problem. We're losing money paying nearly $3,000/mo for this program. We have to shape it into something that benefits both us and deal posters. People post WAY more deals to other deal sites and receive zero compensation for doing so -- they just do it to feel special when their peers say "wow that's a good deal you posted there". We want people to post for that reason at Dealighted but we also want to reward, through prizes or dollars, people for posting great deals.

We have way too much volume though and not enough really good deals. Also, other sites have a lot more people verifying each deal post and posting replies to say whether or not it's a good deal (and the bad deals always get blasted as such). So, we need to shape this program in a way that improves quality, encourages feedback about the quality of each deal, and still rewards people for posting. I'm reviewing all the feedback in this thread.

Are we going to be compensated for posts from last month?? or for future posts?
If not shouldn't you take down the link "Earn $300 mo/ Posting Deals".. It's kind of deceiving.
