Default Changes coming soon to rewards program

Thanks to the folks here, Guide Selling a Guide to make UP TO $300 PAYPAL EVERY Month - Rewards1 Forums, who just want to spam Dealighted, we will be revamping our deal posting rewards program. If you bought that guy's "guide" and are thinking of posting here, don't bother, those posts will be deleted.

We want to reward people for posting quality deals and who care about the deals that they post, but we don't want to reward spammers.

As such, we will likely be moving to a giveaway format similar to what we offered in the past, with each deal post earning you an entry into a monthly giveaway prize pool. Another possibility is an adsense sharing program that other sites have had success with.

If you're a regular dealighted poster and want to weigh in on what kind of incentives program you think would work best, feel free to post here and let us know.

It doesn't surprise me that there are always people looking for 'creative' ways to make money or capitalize on an existing program. I think whatever format changes for the incentive program that is decided upon, someone will always try to find a way to exploit it.
At this time, I don't have any suggestion as to which incentive program would work best since I don't know how Dealighted is distinguishing members who are truly posting quality deals apart from spammers. I'm not a big fan of prize pools, but I can't vote against it without knowing the specifics. For it would be a big disappointment if a member contributed quality deals all month long and not be drawn a prize winner. I think I can offer more suggestions once more details are disclosed.

I agree with Wayne for the most part. I do hate how people always try to abuse the system. I would hate to see the current system done away with. I do not have any suggestions on how to stop this sort of thing. I will be thinking about it hard though.

This should probably be stickied

Nothing has been decided as yet. We're looking for feedback on how to improve our program and weed out the spammers. We do not make money when people post junk, and hence, we can't afford to pay a dime for junk.

I too am not shocked that someone has found a way to abuse this program. I also would be sad to see a change in the format, but can honestly say that I don't have any ideas for an alternative solution. Nor do I feel that I have a say in what Dealighted should do with their website/money. I do, though, appreciate everyone at Dealighted for the rewards I was able to earn by posting, what I felt, were always, pretty good deals.

I am really disappointed that people have tried to exploit this system. I would be very upset if the format of the giveaways is changed because of spammers. I really support this current format and i hope that it is not changed. I am sure that dealighted can win the battle with the spammers without changing the format.

Would it be too revealing to ask how the spammers are posting 'junk' that Dealighted may end up paying for instead of quality deals for specific qualifying merchants?

It is sad that people always try to take advantage of a system until they bring it down, present and past is full of those. Here are my ideas:

1-Don't pay for all deals posted:

2-Increase the reward to $2 but Only pay for deals that make it to the "Only Hot deals" page.

3-Have something like reputaion points. Maybe when posters get to a certain number of points (100,1000,5000...) they would get a gift.

4-There are few coveted coupons that don't come easily (Like Staples or Officedepot coupons that work on tech...). Most of those sellers also have rewards programs. If you can nail a deal with the resellers so members, who post their deals, will get those coveted coupons or extra reward points when they make a purchase from their link. The coupons or extra reward points would be directly related to the number of different members who link to that website from the deal post.

I'd first like to thank the site for the opportunity they have provided. Im an avid freebie/ deal hunter and this site has become the "Hub" of my searches.
It's kinda hard to offer suggestions when we don't have the details.
I think the freebies bring people to the site, More traffic = more buyers.
Maybe you could reward the people that post legitimate deals a percentage of the profit the site makes on their posted deal.

I have been thinking about a solution because the format of the rewards system shouldn't be changed. How about the posts made by spammers should be deleted, and eventually, when the spammers are identified, they accounts should be banned. I really hope dealighted can fix this problem and keep the current system.
