Here is the thing: You gotta owe the Gov to be able to fully claim it: You can't get back in taxes more than you are liable for. So, if you are liable for $3,000 in taxes and the golf cart costs $4,000 you will only get back the $3,000.

Tax Credit Ends December 31, 2009.
The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act (EESA) allows new qualifying vehicles purchased on or before December 31st, 2009 to be eligible for the Qualified Plug-In Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Credit under Internal Revenue Code 30D.
