I have been making steady efforts to buy USA for a while now. I just purchased two new mattresses for the boys and the decision was made primarily on the fact that they were from a Missouri manufacturer. Hopefully the quality is up to par - too early to tell, though.

Many items are quite difficult to purchase based on Made in the USA'ness. Clothes are the most difficult, and frankly I put forth zero effort in that category as I really need decent clothes and I can't pass up some of the JCPenney & Kohl's deals on clothes regardless of where they're made. Their clearance prices are the only thing keeping me dressed in non-rags.

I also bought a set of corn-based plastic hangers made in the USA a while back. I paid a premium for those boogers - it was something like $5 for 3 or 4 hangers. The hope was I would come back in a month and they'd be a little cheaper and I could buy another, and maybe the trend would continue, but they disappeared.
