Family member recently bought a house on the Chesapeake Bay. I'm looking to get into fishing as a hobby. I've read St. Croix is a great brand. What rod & reel would you all recommend? And any input on lines, lures, etc?

boat -- need shorter rods.
surf - tend to need longer rods
