Get out of your AT&T Wireless Contract?

I read it on Spoofee a while back, but it was too late for me to do such.

I was wondering if anyone can be able to find that old deal and paste the details in here, I may be able to get out of my current contract.

They have horrible reception in both the area I live and the area that my father works, and my school, which basically makes the phone inoperable 99% of the time. It's just a dead zone, they happen to be in the places I would have a use for them, if anyone can dig that old thing up, I would appreciate it

Somewhere i read changing ur address gets you out of sprint PCS contract. Try it with AT&T and see if it works.

I checked that, it doesnt work...

I read something in spoofee a while back about getting out of the att contract, and even though thats expired, I think I can cite that to CSR's and tell them I never knew about that (which is true)

This was in august I believe.

When you call up AT&T CS to complain about the lack of a decent signal they send you on a wild goose chase. They have you log all the times and places where you have a dead phone.

Don't fall for this, it is just a way of placating you for a little while in the hope that you will calm down and not cancel.

    Have your response ready:

    i.e.

    10PM at Park Ave...
    11PM at Post RD...
    etc...

    you get the idea.

I feel your argument is that they are breaking the contract by not being able to provide a reasonable signal.

They will say that extenuating circumstances cause signal loss and this is in the contract.

You respond that is very vague and a usable signal should be available - lets say 90% of the time - thats reasonable.

Then you whip out your log and prove to them that you have no service at lets say 50% of the time. With AT&T's service this is very easy to do.

PS: I actually think that AT&T wireless is a good company (I am a stock holder) with growing pains. That doesn't mean you should put up with poor service. If customers will keep their feet in the fire then AT&T Wireless will improve.

they did it to me too

i argued a lot, that u know i don't get any signal why should i pay for a phone which i can't use. she won't listen.

her officer/supervisor is never in the office, i wonder they getting paid for sitting at home?

I got out of my AT&T contract

I was getting no service anywhere in my county and tried to cancel my AT&T contract and got the same run around. Be persistent. They wanted to charge me the "cancellation fee", and I told them that my phone was being used for my job and if they couldn't provide me service, then I should be able to cancel with no fee. She wouldn't agree and I told her I'd stay on the phone until she got me a supervisor. I was put on hold for a while, but in the end was able to cancel my contract with no fee.

Don't give up..... sometimes getting a little upset does the trick.

I hate to pull this topic back up, but I am working trying to get my service cancelled, and was wondering about that one spoofee.com post made a while ago (in august) that stated you could be taken out of your contract with no fee because of some change in service...

Does anyone know what exactly that was? Because I never knew about it till it was too late, and maybe that can be more ammunition to add to my case.

    nevermind, researched around, found this...

Starting August 1, 2002 there will be a Rate Change for AT&T Connect Service. Call 411 and it will be $1.25 per use plus airtime, roaming and applicable long distance charges.

Also beginning August 1, 2002, when calling from the AT&T Wireless network you will incur a charge for busy or unconnected calls if you do not end the call within 30 seconds.

    Here is the out -
If you do not want to accept the charges outlined above, you can cancel your service without incurring an early cancellation fee by notifying us within the next 20 days.

    thanks

Dang... yeah My AT&T service is kinda gay too. But I heard it was like only with the GSM... You think they would be ABLE TO provide better service? Or is it like a total dead-lock. We're screwed either way?

I'm kind of mad and regret leaving Cingular, but Cingular customer service is horid! ATT wireless arnt that bad, the plan is decent, I just wish there was better coverage. But I guess best coverage comes from Verison... how is Sprint? I really like that Samsung phone...

So if we're persistant.. we can get out... I just want them to up the service connection!!

GSM and TDMA service kinda varies, I was told to try a GSM phone, but in the end, the service is _worse_.

They are not a bad company, but their coverage sucks in my area for some reason.

I do not know if I can actually get out, since I've been off and on fighting it for 7 months now. If I dont get out without fees, I will just take the fees and switch, better that than wasting it on a phone I cant use.

yeah ....{fill in airheaded comment here}.... is kinda gay too.
I hope that this over used worn out expression goes out of fashion soon, I'm tired of hearing it over and over again.

No doubt it will soon join the list of passé expressions[list][*]Far out[*]-----in'[*]Whats s'up?[*]groovy[*]gag me with a spoon[*]'later[*]not that there's anything wrong with that[/list:u]
