All 3 current stick models have nearly the same performance. So in my mind the OS and remotes are the issues that differentiate them. The lite version has a guide button that the others do not have yet. The 3rd gen stick has the 2nd gen voice remote with TV power and volume control. The 4k Stick also has that remote. The 2020 lite and regular versions use the newest OS. Some folks are buying the lite versions to get a bit faster device and newer OS to use with older gen2 remote. The current 4k version has the gen2 remote and 4k output if you can stream at that speed and 4k content if available. It also has more internal memory ( it helps!).. For $22 the lite version is not a bad route to go if you have a older stick (slower, over heats, power supply flakey) to use for a upgrade route.

I bought a lite version on the BF deals for $18 and although I liked the guide button, volume control is a must for me, and any extra memory is a big help with as many apps as I fiddle with. so I gave it away and kept the 4k version I had. I also have a first gen cube and I am happy with the 16gb of ram.. yea some say it is slow, but I can deal with that, running out of ram is something I cant. So I would say the $40 woot cube deal is what I would get if I were budget conscious.. If you can wait the new cube goes on sale for $80 - $90 and if you are holding any old stick, it may be possible to get 20% to 25% off retail to stack on that sale price..

The lite version is on sale this week every where at this price.. So if you are not looking to get a year of the channel you are not missing on a deal..

Lite was $17.99 all holidays, so that explains why this is getting no interest. Lite is a nice upgrade over 2nd gen stick...way more responsive. Has the same processor as the older 4K stick, so not sure why the 4K stick isn't getting the new OS too.

This has the newer Andriod 9 with a new UI on it that easier to use USB storage for emulators. I replaced my old fire stick a nd this one boots so much faster and doesn't lock up when falling asleep. Was a great upgrade for me.

Can you clarify what you mean by newer OS? My 1st Gen 4k and 2nd Gen STD stick have same OS as the latest 4K stick I've purchased about a month ago.

The newest is is based on android 9 and it is different.. not sure if you need the new os yet, but it is different. It supports external memory with out having to adb into the stick and formating it. For external storage for example. the gui is slightly different too.

Thanks. It is disappointing that the latest 4K stick I've purchased about a month ago is still on Android 7, not 9 (same as 1st Gen 4K stick from late 2018). So the latest standard HD stick gets Android version 9 but not the 4K stick version which is still 7? Device and OS list below...
