I have this bike it doesn't do that.
Overall the bike is a great buy. Note you need to use your own laptop or smartphone.
The bike has magnetic resistance which is a steal at this price. Out of the box the maxed out resistance was crap. But you can fiddle with the nut above the magnet to get it so that when it's maxed out its barely missing the wheel which increases resistance greatly!
edit- I'm silly I got the one right before this one came out at Costco. apparently this new one comes with its own screen. I imagine that the tip about the resistance magnet still applies.
double edit- I think the link above is a different bike than the one in store. I don't think the one in store comes with a tablet/screen just like mine.
This was the cheapest bike I can find that has a belt drive, versus a chain drive, and digital magnetic resistance, versus a mechanical resistance using felt/leather, I feel this provides the long term value justifying the added cost.
The bike on Costco's website and the image used on this thread, isn't the same $385 bike. They look the same, but the $385 dollar bike doesn't have an added touch screen, you can use your iPad.
This guy does a number of comparisons between this bike a few others, it compares favorably:

So does the $385 have a big screen in front of the bike?

I would not recommend this to anyone looking to get one who is out of shape.
