Have owned this model for several years. It has been very solid.

My recent refurbed CyberPower UPS' from TD were terrible. Both batteries were disconnected out of the box and one of them was even corroded. This isn't the TD I used to once love. So tread lightly.

New ones often on sale at this price. No reason to buy the refurbished.

I think disconnecting batteries is a US shipping requirement in this case. We order new APC UPS from Amazon once a month, all come with disconnected batteries. Each battery has a yellow sticker says to flip the battery (to connect). No excuse for corrosion though in your experience.

APC has shipped their batteries disconnected for many years (for safety). It's the SOP and policy.

CyberPower, however, doesn't generally disconnect their batteries on their new units.

But I wouldn't be surprised by a refurb facility having a policy of disconnecting batteries for shipment.

I wouldn't buy a refurbished UPS, mainly cause of the battery is the key component and who knows what condition it is in. But even if I was going to buy I wouldn't go $100, when I think $125 is probably where I'd go for new on sale. Maybe if it was <$75 I'd consider if I was desperate. But, maybe if you're lucky you'll get one in like-new condition and get a deal.

It's the "bad" one, but personally I've never had any issue with Simulated Sine wave versus Pure Sine Wave. Theoretically a Simulated wave can cause a system to crash, but I haven't seen it. Unless you are using some Scientific, Lab, or Audio equipment that is sensitive to power inputs, don't worry about it. If you can find the Sin Wave version on significant sale (maybe $145-$160 range I would think) you could get one.

Refurb? Yeesh. I am looking for a few that aren't as picky about incoming power - it appears our frequency varies a bit and that's not something you can play with in the settings on most models.

And there was recently a CyberPower 1350VA on sale at Costco recently for less than $90.

(Slightly less capacity obviously, but for some purposes 1300 is sufficient.)

I just checked and they don't have it in stock at regular price right now (No surprise after the sale).
