The price of this 4-bag pack rarely drops. Bought this pack from HomeDepot a year ago for about $225, which covered the year 2020 for me. So, I set a price alert, which allowed me to grab this pack at a below $200 price point. Want to share this information with everyone else here who can take advantage of this discount.

Wow. I think this is a rip. The two dates to remember for pre emergent is Valentine's Day and Halloween.

I use the halts product with no fertilizer.

Weed and feed products seem to either fertilizer or provide weed control at the correct time. The both should rarely be used together.

I usually fertilize as soon as my grass starts to green. Typically I use discount fertilizer purchased at Walmart on close out.

The trick is to use in moderation when grass is wet with forecast of light rain.

I don't usually have lots of weeds because I apply the preemergent at proper timing.

When I do have weeds, I spray the ortho weed be gone.

On request I can provide a picture of my zoysia lawn.

Yard of the month.

I'm pretty sure it looks better than yours.

Can you provide a link to the halts product you are referring to? Thanks!

Op product has four bags. 1. Crab grass preventer with lawn food. I guess you should use this now. Probably best for an established fescue lawn. If the lawn was just seeded, the crab grass preventer will halt germination.

2. Weed and feed with dandelions. If your getting a lot of dandelions In Early spring, your first product didn't work.
Probably good timing to fertilize.

3. Sumerguard fertilizer. Probably best for Bermuda and zoysia as it will be applied in summer. This would probably burn your fescue.

4. Fall winter food. This product has less nitrogen and more potassium and phosphorus for root growth.
I dont think this is really recommended.

thats very regional. Valentines day is far too early for most any cool season grass folks, your pre-m will be long gone by the time the soil hits 55 anywhere north of virginia

.
These dates vary widely by region. It's post Valentines Day and there's about 8 inches of snow on my lawn with more expected, so I'm pretty sure pre emergent would be a bit premature.

Yeah. If your looking at 6" of snow outside, it's probably not a good time to get the drop spreader.

If your looking at a lawn composed of desert sand, my suggestions are no good.

The Scotts app is good at giving you dates for when to apply certain products. And it's free (though of course they only recommend using their own products).
