SVS is way overhyped here. They underperform at every price point compared to other ID maker. For a budget they're fine, but HSU is a better value and gets your more, as does PSA, and Rythmik. SVS has great customer service and "free" returns, which is factored into the price.

For a 15" sealed sub this REL isn't a bad. The ULS-15 is slightly a better value, but this isn't far off. I can't think of any other sealed 15" with 800 watts at this price.

Lies. I demo'd the sb3000 which is over $1,000, side by side with the Rel 1508 and I had to turn the gain all the way up to get the dirty sounding version of the thump the 1508 was putting out at moderate levels. The bigger driver makes a huge difference and it sounds so much more effortless. Turn up the gain a bit in movies and I can feel it in my chest when an actor is just tapping on a table. It's nuts. Room is 22'x22'x8'. Neighbors across the street told me to turn it down twice already. It's awesome.

Edit: just going to remove part about sensitivity/gain because apparently idk what I'm taking about haha and I can tell I'm upsetting some SVS fans. No disrespect to SVS. I have another one of their subs and it is great. But. You're not going to beat out the REL 1508 with an SVS at this price point.

Edit: I have it at -12b on my receiver too fyi. The sb3000 I had to put it at -1db to feel something similar to the REL in my room
Sensitivity is relative and has nothing to do with amplifiers output capability.

When I turn it up it gets louder. Explain that.

You don't understand how sensitivity and gain works. Gain isn't volume. A 15" sealed should outperform the SB3000, but you're not calibrating the SB3000 the same as the REL. If there's that large a disparity then you don't didn't set the SB3000 up correctly.

I calibrated them both with Audyssey. Of course I'm going to mess around and play with the settings to see where I could get the most out of each sub in my room/setup.

And I was responding to a guy that said an SVS at $1000 would be better than the 1508.

I also called up svs and had them walk me through exactly how to set up the sb3000 to see if I was missing something because I felt like I should've been getting more out of it specifically because they told me before I bought it, that it would be on par with the REL 1508. So yea. I did my DD.

So, the SVS gain knob goes to "11" in stead of 10? That's gotta make it 1 better than 10 don't it?
