This is brand new and direct from Garmin. This is their latest model. I have been looking at this model for a while and preferred not to get a refurb and direct from Garmin.

And if you're in a remote area with no cellular coverage . . .
From the linked product page: "Make all the right moves with clear, detailed map updates of North America."
Here WeGo
Long ago we had a Tom Tom GPS that we loved but the map was soo out of date and the battery so weak. The map update cost more than a replacement device. This screen size is great for my aging eyes.
I just bought this one because i am traveling a lot now and my phone GPS stinks! Half the time it loses GPS in tricky spots so i have to pull over and figure out the map old school method by following the street names and thumbing through where to turn next.
Hoping this Gaming device saves me the headache. If it does not i will return it.

For that issue you can use google maps with offline maps.
Google maps offers offline maps that you can download in your phone for free in case you don't have coverage or cell data on your phone.

With Garmin GPS navigators, you'll hear something like "Stay on the second lane to the right and take the exit 45B to I-XXX then keep left and merge into the Northbound XXX." I don't even have to look at the screen. There's also a nice junction view on the screen if you decided to look at the screen.
This is what I'm talking about.

I've tried them all, GoogleMaps, Apple Maps, Waze, Here, CoPilot, TomTom Go, Navigon, Sygic, etc. Even TomTom Go doesn't come close to these dedicated devices. However, I do like the traffic reports on Waze.

I get detailed instructions on google maps. Just go to settings and change it to detailed alerts.
Also, you can use an iPad or tablet instead of your phone with a bigger screen.
It looks like using this kind of device has more of a generational factor. Younger drivers are more prompt to use google maps/Waze.
