Good deal in a solid router. I'm running DD-WRT on mine with all the bells and whistles. The only drawbacks to this router are that you're probably not going to get the full bang for your buck if you have a 500+ mbits plan.

Can I use this as an access point with a linksys router? I just need something to repeat the network so devices can jump between them depending on signal strength

Do we know if this is one of those router with different versions which some supports ddwrt and others don't? Or is there just 1 version and they all support ddwrt? Looking for a backup router should my current one go out.

Yes you can. This allows for a repeater mode setup.

I wondered the same thing. I can only find reference to v5 in DD WRT and OpenWRT pages.

It seems like this is similar (nearly identical) to the C7, so possibly versions 1-4 are the C7 models.

in 4 1. Just set up the old one from the living room to replace the spotty old router I was using as AP in the library. At $30, this is a huge step up from a belkin 600.

Does the router choice make a difference in terms of range? I'm using an old version that I received from my previous ISP. So far, it's been working well but the range of the wifi does become problematic in some areas of the home. I already have an access point that does help but was just curious nonetheless.

I have this for my FiOS service, excellent router, literally plug and play and has been going strong without a single issue... I'd recommend downloading the tp link app, you can see what devices are on your network and make the necessary adjustments

Nice wireless router. Flashed directly to DDWRT with no hiccups.

Looking forward to replacing cable company router (as secondary) and getting full access point mode to my C4000. Thanks op!

Looking to move into a 1700sq ft house with ATT 300 down.
Anyone know if there is a way to avoid using their ATT WIFI gateway modem/router?

I think i'll buy one of these to use as an Access Point...
