the internal storage is NVME where vs an SSD over USB 3.x would deliver much lower-than native performance, which is important things for game developers to plan for, in terms of the stated capabilities of the system. you can still use USB storage, even USB SSDs, but you will need to copy the game into the NVME (or this expansion card) to launch and play XBSX/S games. titles from xbox one X or earlier can launch and play over USB. these expansion cards effectively increase the system's NVME storage, to allow for more launchable storage for new XBSX/S games without copying / moving files.
Still to much for me. someday when I finally make the big bucks.
I wish they would go ahead and make an nvme adapter…

Totally tempting! But do wish it was a bit lower. Might bite the bullet though once i convince myself lol

edit: totally bit the bullet. Had some Paypal Credit i had to use which makes it easier to swallow. tax is about $15 FYI so with code it still comes to about $213.

For xbone I just used a usb-sata cable with a SSD. Was great. Might be interested in this if I could find a series X first

Proprietary "memory card"? What is this, 1999? Get with the times Microsoft and just use a regular SSD. /endrant

I read somewhere (might even be here on SD) that the price is actually competitive with the hardware they used.

These are cheaper than the actual ssds with these speeds. What is Sony doing ? They don't even allow you to extend right now lol

I bought this at full price and to me it has been worth every penny for my series X as I'm the type that likes to have downloaded and play a lot of different games.

I use a external 4 TB for all my non optimized games then put all optimized hand onto the internal. Still haven't even hit 75% on my X.
