The smart comes with a remote as well, but also allows control w phone and google\alexa.
The remote functionality is....limited to say the least. You really can do so much with these IC strips, so going for the remote version is kind of a waste.
However!
The IC lights are SIGNIFICANTLY brighter, and so at $10, you can use single color function and it still exceeds other led strips at this price point.
So if u care about independent control, spend the extra $15. If you just want a super bright strip with some extra little features, buy this.
FYI (in my experience) despite notes about these not being cutable, i cut mine and it still works fine, just cant reattach is all.

It's a Chinese product that is made in China. Given that's it's tech and there have been reports they steal user's privacy, it's one to avoid and perhaps the posts come from sympathizers or users affiliated with the product.

How can they steal your privacy with it if it doesn't connect to wifi/app?

Don't buy these for general white lighting where you need a decent amount of brightness. Low CRIs and brightness. How do I know? Because they don't list the CRIs or brightness (lumens). None of these asian brands on Amazon will list either so they're probably embarrassingly low.
In terms of best bang-for-buck in terms of the actual LEDs (high brightness/lumens and CRI) I think the $30 for 4 meters Wiz strip at Costco is one of the best. 1800 lumen brightness. Standard LED bulb is about 800 lumens (and I'd guess the govee-style strips are around there or lower since they won't advertise it, and with worse CRIs). Parent company is Signify, which originated as a Philips company, same manufacturers of Hue and Lumileds.
