Totally agreed. The only thing that is worth monitoring for kids are video, sound, and potentially body temperature and heartbeat.
Why are they making these things so complicated?
Half of the time, the video and sound should be more than enough.

Have you used it? The smart sock is actually a big life saver for first time parents like us. We can actually get some decent sleep and don't have to get up and check on the baby every frickin minute in the middle of the night. If I have to go with one product between camera and sock, I would go with sock all day long because the sock and base station have been super reliable to me close to 100% of the time. Camera not so much but recent update has definitely improved it when it comes to network connectivity
I agree. We loved ours but we had the 2 without the camera, so I'm unable to comment on that function. Everyone of my friends that have the sock swear by it.
Here right now because it just caught my best friend's 8mo-old's heart rate at 250bpm (without any discernable behavior change) and they're now in the Children's Hospital for treatment.
