Razor Hovertrax DLX 2.0 hoverboard. 2 different color combos.

I had a hard time trusting some of the cheap Chinese hoverboard that were going up in flames. I got one of these used a few years ago, and have more faith in the Razor products charging in my garage unattended.

The specs:
Max speed of 9 mph
Multi-color LED lights and color-shifting effects
Self-balancing technology for a smooth ride
Battery lasts up to 1 hour on full charge
Max weight of 220 pounds
Made in China

Only folks I see using these as of recent are unwanted sales people scooting around the neighborhood.

I see kids riding these all the time. Is this a really good deal or just ok? I'm thinking I'll find a couple and hold them for Christmas

Don't toy with me.
I have been promised a hoverboard for 40 years...and I mean "Back to the Future" hoverboard. And flying cars. We were all going to have flying cars by 2000. Where the h#** is my flying car?

Any differences between this Razor Hovertrax DLX 2.0 and the Razor Hovertrax 2.0?

I searched previous slickdeals posts, and didn't find a price that was as good as this for the Razor hovertrax brand.

But I will say I found mine on the used market. Search craigslist and facebook market place for a possible local deal. search for hovertrax and it filters out all the junky Chinese ones.

But if you want them new as a Christmas present, this is a good price. I remember a deal on from walmart for a unknown walmart brand and it was on a clearance for really cheap. But I searched quite a few stores for a few months, and never saw one. That is when I got the hovertrax on craigslist.

Been thinking about picking up a 2nd one so both kids can ride them around.

I personally want this to drop around 100. Then I feel like it would be a really good deal, but I hardly ever see the razor hovertrax brand get as low at 150. That just seems to be the lowest price on them. I have seen cheaper knock off go for less then 100 if you can find them on clearance.

Quote: "The Razor Hovertrax 2.0 and the DLX 2.0 are basically the same product. The DLX 2.0 is the latest version and it has some minor aesthetic changes in its frame, LED lighting and colors.
But the main difference is that the DLX 2.0 allows a tiny faster cruise speed at 9 Mph (14 Km/h) compared the 8 Mph (13 Km/h) that its older brother yields."

A quick Google shows some razor brand stuff coming up between 130 to 200. It shows this dxl 2.0 for 168 at Walmart. Now that might be a clearance price that no one has in stock. Not sure. Just trying to gauge if this is a good deal. Do they make these rated for 250+ lb so I can ride with my boys.

Also mine are almost 6 and 4. Which I had thought was way too young till I heard kids on my boys tball team h@ve these.

I can not stress how important it is to wear a helmet and elbow/knee/wrist guard pads on these things. The age really isn't as important as the kids agility and athletic ability. I had my kids riding these at 4 (girl) and 5 (boy). However, My 4 year old girl required a lot of me walking backwards holding her hands, and a lot of training getting on and off the thing. That is the most dangerous part is getting on and off. After a few hours of helping out, I got her to a point she could ride by herself.

My wife (without any safety equipment) tried getting on, and it slipped out from under her and she landed on her elbow, she was hurting pretty bad and won't get back on. That's why the safety equipment is directly related to how much fun you have on this thing. When they fall with pads on and it doesn't hurt as much, then they are more likely to get back on and keep their confidence.

I'm very strict about wearing the pads for that reason, sometimes the kids don't want to play with it because they don't want to go through the hassle of putting on all the pads. I have even caught myself wanting to jump on for just a second when cleaning up the toys with out gear, but I have to stop my self, because when you take a bad spill, it hurts pretty good.

Thanks for those tips

Do they make these rated for around 250 in or no? Or would you jump on a 220 rated one?

I have not ridden anything other then this brand, so I can't answer that. But I wouldn't hesitate to jump on a cheap one if provided the opportunity.

Gotcha. This one says rated for 220 lb so was curious if I'd be able to ride it or not (or should I get myself one. Lol. )
