This feels lukewarm at best. Am i missing something?
If you can't think of a use case, then you don't need it.
I would usually agree with you, but Pis are pretty fun to tinker around with. There are dozens of projects that use a Pi, I have used mine as a NAS, emulator, ad blocker, and even Linux PC for a short time.
The price is pretty average though, these packages usually go for around $100, and you can probably save some cash by buying parts individually. You can get a 4gb one standalone for like $55-60, and you might already have some of the other stuff lying around (like USBC power supply-15w and microsd card). Case/heatsinks can be optional (unless you are really trying to push the performance).

Ahhh, a lot of that wasn't listed in the original post. Case and power supply is nice i guess?
As for use cases:
PiHole - whole home ad blocker at dns level, i have 2 doing this for redundancy, but 1 normally is fine.
Docker - run ALL THE THING from 1 pi.
Emulation Station - games from dreamcast and earlier all the way back to things like Amiga, Gameboy, Atari 2600, etc...
Web server - and all the web apps you wanna install. Like a....
C.O.P.S. - personal library ebook server for a Calibre library
PlanarAlly - Virtual d&d tabletop map server runs in a web browser
Digital cookbook server - too many to list.
Mosquitto - MQTT server to relay messages between your smart things, so that you can use.....
Home Assistant - home automation software, integrates with RTSP cameras so you dont have to rely on cloud services and subscription stuff
LibreELEC - basically KODI, a media client for your network, a bit beefier than installing KODI on a firestick
Private game servers - yeah, run your own MMO or web/html5 games. Google helps here.
Mopidy - network controllable music player, works with network shares, spotify, soundcloud, internet radio stations, internet archive, etc...
Google "awesome raspberry pi list" amd youll find a TON of great software for the pi in a curated list.
Half the fun is learning, and the "i did that! I MADE this!" feeling when you fire up a new service. One of my pi3b runs 2 games and library server, and ine of my pi4b has a half dozen docker contaoners doing various things on it. Its fun!

One of the best use of this is to run a pihole on it. There are tons of YouTube videos. I love the fact that all adds are blocked at the DNS level and I don't have to wonder how FB and Google figured I was googling a specific item
