Could you clarify, if "Fully Unlocked Device" means boot loader is unlocked and you can flash custom firmware?

It specifically mentions Verizon, so my first thought was Verizon version of the device, hence bootloader is locked.

cool, they lowered price $5, I paid $88 a few weeks ago and actually just returned one for a (pending) refund. The second one was better but both had noticeable vertical bars or streaks on screen. Really not awful once you go to android 11 Dark theme. In fact I can say it's worked out for tight budget and getting a nice camera and free storage.

I was tempted to post the deal but Daily Steals isn't very popular here. They were pretty responsive in my email exchange but YMMV on refurbs and returns. A lot of Pixel deals lately but not this cheap.

I know nothing about boot loading, I'm just lazy and stock android 11 on a Tracfone VZW sim but I bet it would work on Tello GSM too. Both phones I got were easily activated on Safelink which is a little fussy but the Pixel being a bit older and generic must have helped.

Worse part was going to USPS and exposing myself to covid clerks to mail it back. It was more trouble than it was a hot deal but I'm liking the phone a lot.

What you're referring to is called SIM Lock. SIM lock prevents utilizing a phone on networks it's not locked to. Verizon phones haven't been SIM locked for a while.

Bootloader lock is where you are not able to load custom software on it. A lot of people like to load custom/modified OS to have it running more efficiently, with more features and free of bloatware (shouldn't be the case with Pixels). Also, you may get OS updates beyond mfr's updates since development community ports newer versions of the OS to older devices to make them last longer.

In the case of bootloader that cannot be unlocked, you are stuck with the latest version mfr releases. Nothing more.

This was a great price but phone came with physical problem with the screen (pink lines). Pretty inexcusable honestly. Time to see what their RMA process looks like.
