Costco online: Sodastream Fizzi Bundle (2 CO2, 2 1L bottles) - $69.99+tax incl. shipping

Through August 23, 2021, Costco has the Sodastream Fizzi with two 60L CO2 cylinders and two 1L BPA-Free reusable bottles for $69.99+tax including shipping (normally $104.99, but less a $35 instant rebate). I believe you do pay sales tax on the full $104.99, though. Also, they only have the colors Black or White.

I drink a lot of plain sparkling water - like 4-5 bottles a day and it always feels wasteful when I look at my recycle bin. I'll give this a shot to see if it tastes anywhere close to as good as my favorite Perrier (apparently, naturally carbonated mineral water) or second favorite Pellegrino (CO2 added to natural mineral water). If not - Costco return will be easy.

I also wanted to get a Sodastream after watching that really bad movie American Pickle on an airplane.

Based on back of the envelope math, I believe this initial purchase will more than pay for itself with the savings vs. buying cases of 0.5L bottles: 1 CO2 cylinder makes the equivalent of 5 cases of 24 0.5L bottles of Perrier that usually cost me ~$15-$18 each at Costco = $75 on the low end. You get two CO2 cylinders with this bundle, so you replace ~$150 of Perrier purchases and get the Fizzi machine and two refillable bottles on top of that. This Fizzi takes up much less space than multiple cases of Perrier. Then going forward, it gets even cheaper as 1 CO2 cylinder exchange at Target will be $15 (vs. the $30 price for a new CO2 cylinder) - replacing ~$75 of Perrier, which means ~80% savings with the benefit of less recycled bottles to carry to the curb. Even if 1 CO2 cylinder doesn't make a full 60L of water sparkle - even if it's only 30L, I'm way ahead as long as I actually like the sparkling water it makes. If not, again, easy return to my local Costco and back to the old way of slogging around cases of bottled Perrier.

This is a bit better deal than the current Fizzi deals advertised elsewhere (i.e. Target has the Fizzi w/ 1 CO2 cylinder and 1 1L bottle for $49.99) if you're ok with just black or white w/chrome and have a Costco membership or don't mind paying the 10% non-member premium. If you want to replicate this bundle at Target, I believe it would be $50 for the machine, 1 CO2 cylinder and 1 Bottle + $30 for a second CO2 cylinder + $15 for the second bottle = $95. The Costco bundle is $25 less which works out great assuming you're a member and are OK with the color choices. But if you don't want the second CO2 cylinder or bottle, the Target path might be better for you.
