You can also buy it directly from AMD, free shipping (not sure how fast it ships though)
https://www.amd.com/en/direct-buy/us
(Paypal with Discover Card get 5% Discover CB this quarter)

BH has it marked up at $269.99, not a good deal unless you use their Payboo card.

5600x is about 7%
Faster it also has PCIe 4.0
5600g does not
5600X only if you have or are going to get a graphics card at extra cost which not everyone needs one.
Yes, if you need PCIE4, go for other options.

That's like saying a truck has worse acceleration than a car to a person that needs to move a refrigerator. Apples and oranges my friend.

These have been in stock all day at Amazon and Newegg. Either they have a lot available or the demand is starting to ease up. Based on the 5600x, 5800x, etc stocks over the past year, I was expecting these to sell out the first day.

$260 might not be that easy to swallow even for scalpers when you have 5600X at about the same price and potential much cheaper competitor i5-11400 (but only if you can find it in stock at MSRP, personally I don't like it as Intel's TDP rating is a joke)
It's not like 3200G and 3400G, MSRP at $99 and $149 is a steal. If I could find those at MSRP, I would have gone for them for my HTPC/NAS build.

I feel your pain. I have a 2400g, and I wanted to upgrade my x370 itx board to the 5000g series. No go since AMD won't let the board manufacturers issue bios updates. Since both the 4000g and 5000g series use PCIe-3 and not PCIe-4, and are 65 watt, it would not affect new motherboard sales to allow them to be used with the 300 series chipset boards. After all, most gamer's are not going to be using these in their builds, and no one is going to buy an x570 or even high end b550 board for using one of these apu's, with the exception of itx boards.

On ebay, I noticed used 3200g and 3400g cpus are going for insane prices (more than suggested retail). My theory is that a lot of X370, B350 and A320 board owners don't want to upgrade with Socket AM5 less than a year away, and if they want an APU, these are the best options. That is my situation.

IMO, AMD screwed themselves by not allowing the 4000g apu's to be released in retail, and the almost year long delay of the b550 and a520 mainstream chip sets.

I'm wondering if you might be able to give me some pointers on what products to look at for a build I want to do with my 11 year old. He likes gaming and is interested in building a PC, but so far he really is only into Fortnite, Roblox, and Minecraft. I was looking at possibly doing the 5600G but after ready your comment, I wonder if we could get away with a less expensive build for now. Got any tips on boards and CPU's that are cost effective but would still play at a level he'd like...and might even afford for some future upgrades (add a GPU if his gaming advances).
Thanks!
