That is quite far. I think the ones Costco sells for about twice the price, has 24 bulbs for same length. About 2 feet apart.

This comes up every time in these threads, and it really depends on lumens (and watts is the closest thing we have to lumens in the specs). 2W bulbs every ~3 feet are generally brighter than 1W bulbs (Costco) every 2 feet, but it's also harsher points of light. I.e. it's softer and more ambient to have more lights with less intensity each, which is why the Costco ones are my choice. Plus, try returning anything to Amazon in a few months if they go bad.

These are 0.5W bulbs every ~3 feet, so yeah, dark.

It's not just about illumination though, decoration is a factor (think Christmas tree). In a small area 2' separation is going to look a lot better than 3'. I have the 2' Costco lights on my small deck and 3' would not be good. For larger decks or even yards, 3' would be fine.
