You are made in America, not any better in anyway .
Does the US govt not regulate things made elsewhere?
I'm wondering because the number of things made in other countries is huge.
Also do Chinese manufacturers use different materials for US exports than for Chinese goods to be kept in country?
Surely not everything that people in China use and consume is sub-standard, right?

I had an awful experience testing toys from China for lead. Basically the part your child chews on could be lead painted and still pass because I had to dunk the whole toy and check the total percent. Just an example. And no they won't give you the ingredients. And no they don't care.

You are absolutely correct. Food, cosmetics and basically anything made in china is potentially hazardous. There was the drywall scandal back in 2008 where 100,000 homes in America had to be gutted because of toxic fumes they were emitting. They were causing pipes and electrical wiring to get corroded. The baby formula scandal where dairy farmers were adding chemicals to trick the Chinese state lab testing into thinking it was high in protein but was actually indigestible melamine which sent 54,000 babies to the hospital. The government executed a few farmers to make an example but no officials were arrested even though there was plenty of evidence of collusion. Or the Chinese pet food scandal that killed 12000 pets in America also with melamine as the contaminant.
The important thing to note with all these scandals is that they are not accidental but intentionally done to cut costs at the direction of company directors. The lower people get punished but the guys at the top get away with it to run the next scam
