If ya don't need the compactness of these little mini amps a 10-20 dollar receiver from the local thrift store is the way to go.

Don't forget idle power draw and heat generation. A larger, cheaper amp can often be had at a lower up front cost. But, power consumption could cost you more in the long run. On top of that, a lot of bigger amp are pretty much mini space heaters. 😂

That said, I'm still using a handful of old 5.1 receivers where 2 channel mini-amps would be sufficient because I had them on hand. (and probably paying the price for it!)

While i couldn't agree more with you about heat and power consumption...

I think receivers like your's (which i am pretty certain are class A or class A/B amplifiers) are more efficient for FULL RANGE speakers... (which is what you're using them for)

While I feel class D has its place in audio, with my limited knowledge in these amplifiers... while class D runs cooler? Its also less powerful for this application, because class D only performs nominally @ lower frequencies (hence why their use is usually only use them for subwoofer amplifiers).

Then again, this is knowledge of about 3+ years back... with how tech has been gradually changing i'm probably (at this moment) out of the loop 😔
