Why does the title say "select customers"? This is the standard feature for everyone with these cards. Rotating categories.
these days you can buy any gift card to anywhere or even a visa prepaid credit card which you can use anywhere. But for 5% I don't know if it's totally worth it for many things. You lose all the credit card benefits like extended warranty, the ability to chargeback. (And if you're me then you might lose the cards)
i mean if that works then technically you can buy gift cards to anywhere and get 5% off.

What gift cards do they sell there that you think are good buys at 5%?

Actually I was reading through the terms on one of my cards extended warranties and I think it actually covered purchases made using gift cards purchased by the credit card. You need to make sure you can connect the trail of purchases of course.

Also I've found that some of those prepaid cards that are supposed to be like cash don't work at a lot of places. Ive had issues with them always declining at home Depot and certain gas stations and some restaurants. It made using them a pain because I never knew where the card would and wouldn't work.
Never thought of that approach!
5% to do any sort of real hassle-minor as it be is fairly meh though when the other CCs are regular 2 to 3%.
The best deal comes when pair Flex/Freedom with Reserve - 5% becomes 7.5% when transfer the points earned on Flex/Freedom categories to the Reserve card. Works for me, not everyone likes the annual fee but works out if spend is right.
Yeah you can do todaY IN Grocery store, I go there and by amazon gift card
If you have Harris Teeter or Kroger nearby, you can stack it this month with 4x points for gas, so $25 gift card becomes 10cents per gallon discount. It's a good time to stock up on gas and restaurant gift cards. But yeah, you have to think about if it's worth the risk of losing it for a $5 discount off $100, especially if you can already get 2-3% from another card.
