Newegg has Acer Nitro VG270U Pbmiipx 27" QHD 2560 x 1440 2K 144Hz 1ms HDMI DisplayPort Built-in Speakers AMD FreeSync LED IPS Gaming Monitor on sale for $259.99.
Anyone has or used this monitor? I'm thinking of getting this for my son and its in my budget range with the specs Im looking. Is the screen bright?
I use this as a display for my personal laptop and PS5. Personally I think it's plenty bright but the color appears off. I've unsuccessfully scoured the web to find calibration settings. So I've tried to do it on my own and it's better, just not great.
If he's a PC gamer he can go to the rtings website and download their ICC Profile for a similar model monitor as a starting point.

I have the same experience with this monitor. No amount of settings or calibration profiles have made much difference. I have gone through so many different cables/hubs etc but still the colors are off a bit.
Got this a week ago. It's really nice, you just have to make sure you tinker with the color settings. Brightness is decent, I love it's thin bezels. UI is okay. The mount/stand is horrible and very wobbly, but that shouldn't matter much if the platform it's on will be completely stationary and static.

I've had it for about a week now, and I've gotta say I love it! No dead pixels (I'm a stickler for that kind of stuff) and IPS "glow" hasn't been too noticeable. Obviously nowhere near the color accuracy of a more expensive monitor, but coming from. 1080p 60hz monitor its amazing!
Like others have been saying, the stand is garbage. I'm doing a dual monitor setup and bought a Dual mount, I advise you buy one also (a single mount obviously, if only one monitor). Although it's all subjective, you will not be disappointed with the purchase. I love it!
