Hyundai Nexo SUV 20,000 off MSRP. 0% for 72 Months + Incentives (CA Residents Only) $43000

$43,000.00

Similar to the Toyota Mirai Deal except in SUV form so a little more utility out of the FCEV vehicle.

Key deal points.
20K off MSRP (Around 63k) [hyundaiusa.com]
8K Federal Tax Credit (need to confirm you can utilize this, extended through 2022) [energy.gov]
4500 California State Rebate [cafcp.org]
15000 Free Hydrogen
21 Enterprise rental car days. (for out of state road trips)
0% Financing for 72 months
HOV lane access
[hyundaiusa.com]

Might not be a bad deal, since cars are hard to come by right now. The downside is if fuel cell cars die off due to EV adoption then the resale on these might be worse than it already is. If you can use the tax credit it does seem like a pretty nice car.

Its actually close to 15K total expense for a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle if you took the time to read the deal, but thanks for your expertise on automotive technology.

I wasn't commenting on this "deal" which is essentially Cali only. I'm just saying the msrp is crazy. It's like Nokia coming out with a $1200 phone then saying "it's only $300 with a 3 year contract one trade in of an iPhone 12"

0, it has nothing to do with quality either. It's a non premium brand charging premium prices. It's like Levi's charging $800 for a belt because it will last as long as a Gucci belt

Every hydrogen fuel cell car is 50-75K

I can't speak from personal experience of owning a korean car but it seems like the korean brands are making strides in what comes out of their shops lately. For example, kia is netting a premium (markups galore) for their telluride and carnival. I used to (and still kind of am) surprised, to say the least, that a korean car is costing $55k+ these days. But all the automotive reviews are giving stellar marks for the Telluride. Carnival is still quite new to have had a chance to compete.

Samsung was a joke when I was growing up (Sony was king!)...this was probably in the 70s/80s.

Not sure when they started turning it around, but now Samsung (Korean just like Hyundai) is certainly considered premium and on par with Sony.

Things change!

Hunting down hydrogen is too much of a pain in the butt and I live in SoCal with highest density of stations. My time is worth more than this

You might not in the market for a car for a while. Telluride and Palisade both MSRP around 50K but some times goes 5 to 10K more than the MSRP. And you have to wait for few months to get one due to high demand.

I'm really interested to see if hydrogen goes anywhere, but the infrastructure just doesn't seem ready.
