Who else feels like slickdeals has been lacking as of late? Some of these deals are not even decent deals. This press can be bought at a local store for $3, but I understand if people don't have access to an ethnic market.

Excellent price. Normally $7-$9. I would pick one up to try but know that I won't get much use out of it. How do people normally flatten them?
Even the mfg suggests using a plate.

How to Make Tostones
1. Peel the plantain and cut it into 1-inch chunks.
2. Heat the oil in a large skillet.
3. Remove the plantains from the pan and flatten the plantains by placing a plate over the fried plantains and pressing down.
4. Dip the plantains in water, then return them to the hot oil and fry 1 minute on each side.
