Buy something with a lot better water proofing because as a beginner your going to be eating a lot of snow and don't want to be soaked.
I got the Kor Cirrus Hybrid Full Zip Hoody a month ago during the last sale. To get an idea of what the jacket is like, if you look at the blue color, all of the parts in blue have very light insulation, and all of the parts in black are a single layer of fabric. This makes the jacket great for activities where you are generating some heat and need the breathability. Otherwise if you're wearing this casually, you will feel cold in these spots. You'll be a little colder in this than in a Patagonia nano puff, and a little warmer than something like the Outdoor Research Ferrosi.

The insulation provides just enough warmth for me to use it down to 50F while I'm walking my dog.

How does this compare to Patagonia nano puff? Not as much insulation?

I was wondering the same and found this article. https://blisterreview.com/gear-re...brid-hoody

Seems pretty on par at $70 it seems like a no brainer.

FYI: These are going quick, 2 colors sold out before I could buy. Still stoked

I've never worn Mountain Hardwear before. I normally get North Face and I fit into a large. How is Mountain Hardwear? Do they normally run smaller or is the fit fairly roomy?

I believe they are a division of Columbia. I have two shirts by them and they are of higher quality material and fit.

Agreed ^^^

Some of there stuff is all over the place as far as sizing goes! I bought an XL down jacket from them and it felt like it was nearly an XXL.
They have quality products, but beware that their sizing is often different from other outdoor clothing manufacturers.

Great jacket for high output work out, so i would say it would be great for skiing.

Not a good skiing jacket other than cross country. Been skiing since I was 3 and grew up on the mountain so can tell you with confidence.

I have a couple jackets of theirs and they're top quality. The fleece split a seam in the sleeve so I sent it in and they repaired it quickly and I had a sweater that split a seam in the same spot and they gave me store credit for a very nice jacket. Top notch company so I'm in for one of the fleeces (black, those others are ugly!).

I'm holding out for a fully rainproof one in pink.

That would be Pretty Hard Kor.
