Been waiting for the DWS779 combo for this price but with the inflation not sure if that will come back. Thinking about pulling trigger or PM'ing Lowes for card discount.

AVOID this saw!! If it's the DWS779 and is a "Type 21" or "Type 22" it is a far lesser quality saw than what Dewalt had used in the type 20 and below.

They built a great reputation with this saw, then cheapened it up, removed bells and whistles, and is no longer the quality it used to be.

Their "changes" to this saw is what finally made me realize Dewalt was dead.

If you can find a "Type 20" or lower, grab it! Those were amazing for the price.
This comes with the DWS716, not DWS779. I don't know if it has had an revision issues. This is only a mediocre price for the DWS716.

Great saw, I prefer the rolling stand though. Easier to move, setup, get out of the way, etc

I don't believe I have seen one of the similar saws with the rolling stand. I will mostly be using it around the house.

it's for long stock, 12 foot extension, baseboard, decking. It's also solid due to the large tubing fully extended locked even with 2x material on it. Great stand! had one long time, have the bosch roller, rollers will max out at 8', bosch is a bit more 8.5 iirc, good gravity stand but stupid priced ..cost more than the hercules saw i have on it especially considering a few questionable looking knobs. But point is with the gravity i do use outfeed stands (jawstand) and only rarely used on with the dw.

Most i agree won't need this stand as just transporting long stock is a hassle without delivery....but it took me all of a few months to go from "when am i gonna cut long stock again, i'll replace the dewalt" to "dang...should have kept the stand here comes the 20 footers"...but jawstands work.

I agree with others about the stand. The stand is really nice and sturdy but it is huge and heavy. I sold my stand on CL and bought the rolling Ridgid stand. Not sure if you could do a store return on the stand but I would try if you don't need to cut long lengths.

I've kinda been waiting for the $349 price and don't need the stand. Guessing you could sell the stand pretty easily for $50, right?

Would be great to see the price get down to $349 at lowes and then you could use a 10% coupon. I may wait for BF. not sure...

Or just build a rolling stand. (Assuming wood prices are back down.)

They're easy to make, and you can adjust height, fence style, etc. But sadly, this saw is no longer a good one. I hope you have the type 20 or lower.

should be noted too this stand is much lighter than the gravity stands it's all aluminum. But....you'll have to break down the saw which with a 12"incher is heavy. loading gravity stand in truck, etc you gotta take into consideration your bed cover, saw height ,etc. For wheeling outside the garage yeah, gravity is the winner.

This package is not the one with the sliding 779. The OP is not correct in the description. $399 would be a great deal if it was.

That being said, I have a 779 model 21 and it was cheapened vs the 20 but it is still a solid saw and it's movements are repeatable and accurate. My only regret regardless of version is the depth required when benched but no saw short of $700 and above would solve that. Don't think you'll find a "new" V20 to grab, they went through a couple low $200 clearance cycles and wiped out years ago

I admit my opening post was not clear.

I had been watching the DWS779 kit appears it went on sale for this price during the last holiday season per the deal post here. Unsure with current inflation and supple chain issues if that set would get back down.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger here. I maybe kicking myself in a month. But most of my work here is DIY and do prefer quality tools. Got an old delta now that I'm gonna get rid of cause its inconsistent in it's nature.

This is for the DWS716 saw with stand.

Ugh..... I really want sliding, but I also have a 15% off mover's coupon good for only a few more days and $340 for this combo seems like a darn good deal.
