I debated either ES1 or ES3. Ended up picking the ES1 for the higher motor power (wattage). ES3 definitely gets more mileage, but we only use this for fun versus distance.

Do not recommend. Two bolts that hold bar constantly get loose, tires almost gone after few miles and accelerator constantly gets jammed.

Btw add a battery to the handlebars to the es1 and you double the range and it will go 15mph.

ES3 is an ES1 + extra battery. They have the same motors. Since the ES3 has the extra battery, it has more power

EDIT
Oh, this is ES1 Gen2 with 300W motor vs ES3 with 250W motor

are there any adult scooters under 200 that might be worth looking out for? doesn't have to be new, maybe i can find something used just dont know what to look for. Portability is the most important as I don't have much space in my car and nothing too terribly heavy either ideally. Thanks!

Ninebot max amazon deal was 65 dollars

I'm in the same boat, hence I purchased the ES1. What you need to look for is fold-able handle. A lot of folks recommend BIRD or other scooters as they are more durable. For just riding around the park/beach, I think this should be more than sufficient.
