Technically yes they would but they are not self enclosed so most likely not sound to good.
Sound is subjective, some say these sound as good if not better than $400+ speakers!
5 in ceiling would be a very strange setup. Generally you'd have two in/on the front wall as left and right and also a center speaker in/on the wall or on a media console below the TV. Then four speakers on the ceiling.
I have center, front r/l, back r/l all in ceiling. Then an additional left and right in the wall. Not saying it's not weird, but that's how it's wired.
These would work. If your receiver is in the front of the room, you could swap to a real center speaker in just a few minutes. If you have a media console with a TV you can just put a speaker on or in the center console. If you're using a projector just a few minutes with a fish rod and you could fish a wire into the wall cavity. If your receiver is in another room or part of the room it would be tricky. I'd still probably rather tuck a wire under the baseboard to get to the front wall than have a ceiling center speaker. That's probably the worst speaker to be placed incorrectly.
Hopefully you can work it out. These are a good deal and should work well for you.
