Honestly, if you really need 256GB of storage then you should spring for the Air because you are obviously using it heavily and could use the upgraded processor and screen in the Air. The base iPad is best for simple games, & web browsing. It's not great for doing actual work or watching movies. The 64GB iPad will likely be around $250 during Black Friday -- usually is, although this is an odd year. That is a bargain. But I wouldn't pay $500 inc. tax for a base iPad.

How about 450 for an iPad Air 4 ? Just looks like a more premium device that will last a while.

I got this on release and I love it. Having 256gb of storage is awesome because I used to have only 32gb. Now I can put anything on it without having to worry. It's plenty powerful for what I need and I play Genshin Impact at 60fps on it which is one of the most demanding games out there. I really see no reason to get the Air and even the Pro which starts at 128gb storage in my case, i'd rather have more storage than more power since this is just a side device for my actual PC and laptop I have.
