Note, this is the dual-band kit. I suggest spending a bit more $$ for the tri-band kit (Asus XT8). The XT8 is going for ~$391 right now at Amazon.

With dual-band, if using the wireless network for uplink, performance will suffer and it's likely speeds will not be great for distant nodes. You would need to use ethernet uplink in order to achieve the fastest speeds. Ethernet uplink = hard-connect the two units with an ethernet cable. This is only feasible if you have ethernet ports/connections near each unit (if your house is wired with ethernet jacks, for example).

With the tri-band set, there are 3 wifi bands, and one of the bands will be reserved for the wireless uplink. This will free up the other two bands for local network traffic, and speeds should be very fast in that scenario.

Also, someone on YouTube named Drew Talks reviewed the XT8 and liked it (tri-band set). He also suggested watching for Amazon Warehouse deals on Amazon.. he was able to get a like-new set someone returned, which works and looks like new, for a bit over $300.

I had the XT8 and used the 5gh channel as wireless backhaul. It works but not entirely stable. I switched to XD6 and installed a moca 2.5 ethernet backbone and use that to connect the nodes. I am extremely impressed how fast the overall connection and the handoff is. I am getting almost advertised speed from the ISP after tinkering with QOS and other features.
