The boot warning isn't too bad. Just press control-d and it will continue booting.. otherwise wait for the warning to timeout.
That article is for Cruton which runs Ubuntu inside a VM (I think it's a VM not a container). I don't think you need developer mode to run Crostini which is the official ChromeOS project that let's you run Debian inside an LXC container.
What I want to know is whether I can use a CCD cable to load Ubuntu or Gallium onto the metal.
