Delete post. I was mistaken and this is the PRO version with 8 core processor.
Same specs as Fire tablet HD 8, but with pure android. Not good for anything except light web browsing, video streaming and maybe reading. The low res screen might not be good for reading though… $28 is cheap enough.
Might get one to dink around with. Might squeeze some power out with adb removal of apps and services.
Read the reviews on Walmart site, go from newest to oldest comments. Screen dieing after !0 days, not durable, I mean, ok, as something to play with for 29 dollars, I guess go for it. Now, there are people that knock the fire hd 8 too, but it has 128,000 ratings and 90 percent POSITIVE reviews (combined 4 and 5 stars) . And Amazon's eco system and amount of years developing the fire devices , long track record. I'm not against Walmarts ONN brand stuff, maybe research it. ONN has 4.1 out of 5 score with 399 reviews total.
I guess you can buy and play with it and compare them if you want. Report back, maybe for what you would use it for, it's worth it.
The ones at my store were mixed with the non pro model. The packing for both were very similar, and the main thing that differentiated them was the term "Pro" on the box; and the non pro had plastic shrink wrap, while the Pro version did not.
Thought the following post was insightful. Going to try it out also. Thanks!

I got the $29 deal for the Onn 8" Pro and am pretty pleased with it. It has an octa-core processor though (better).
I used "adb commands" and removed all the bloat (Walmart apps, Google apps, etc…) and changed the launcher to Nova Launcher and it's pretty snappy for normal stuff. 1.3gb of ram free (out of 2gb). The 8 inch is a steal!
I just found out about the adb stuff and have been debloatimg all my android stuff and having a blast! Debloating is the way to go.

It was still $49.

I stand corrected. Didn't catch that this was the PRO version.
