The thing was crazy hot just sitting on my desk. It also kept running with a decent amount of heat in sleep mode.
I had the laptop in my backpack at one point and noticed that my pack was very hot.. Pulled it out and yup fans running in sleep mode with the lid closed.
On the flip side.. My brother has this model and it produces much less heat. It's fine for Photoshop, yet struggles with Premiere obviously due to a few factors. He kept his and as I said I returned mine.
Neither of us had any hinge issues. These are big and bulky though.. Best for minimal movement and best on a desk. They are uncomfortable on your lap after a short period of time.
Black Friday is around the corner.. I'd keep an eye out for a deal you really want that fits your budget. Something to note... You could buy this and not open it. Dell has a 30 day return window. So you could wait and see what comes up in a couple weeks.

This model doesn't get as hot as the higher end ones. I just returned the Ryzen7/rtx3060 model.. I was getting temps around 210F under load.

Did you update the bios? I have the 5800h/3060 that I'm mining with and temp is around 64C. Of course being Dell the bios is locked down and can control doesn't work in Afterburner, but the "G" button cranks of the fans and keeps it cooler
