Verizon is offering $800 for a trade-in when upgrading a line, so the S21 would end up being free:
https://www.verizon.com/smartphon...xy-s21-5g/

Other Samsung phones qualify also; the web site offer says:

Get $800 off this device when you trade in. Upgrade required.

Buy the Samsung Galaxy S21, Samsung Galaxy S21+, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, or Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G device
+
Trade in:
Your old device within 30 days of purchase

The list includes many older LG and Samsung phones, back to the Samsung S6

The trade in is a promo credit over 24 or 30 months.

An unlimited plan is required: either the Play More, Do More, or Get More.
Good Deal?

Sure -- I did forget to do that.

I'm curious why the multiple negative votes. The last time this $800-off deal was available, it was fairly popular, but I missed seeing it until too late. So, I've been watching for this or something similar.

Also, there was another deal recently posted for the S21 Ultra at Costco for around $750, but $800 off would make it $400 here. Granted, that's spread over 2 years instead of a direct purchase, so maybe that's a factor.

Anyway, i haven't yet followed through and upgraded via this offer yet, so I'm curious if anyone knows of something better. Thanks for any feedback.

This was active earlier & verified by a rep via chat, but now I don't see it. Either it was a very short offer period, or it was a mistake and listed on the Verizon site early/accidentally. idk

This is getting a thumbs down because in the description it implies ALL phones listed back to the s6 get $800 off making the phone free. This phone is only free if you trade in the phone that immediately preceded it (or the newest iphone). Tried to trade in a note 9, they offered me $300. Not bad compared to the $300 I'd get on swappa, but in no way a free new phone. 🤷 ♂️

No, the deal I saw and confirmed in chat listed $800 for every phone I tried, back to the s6. It must have been offered in error because I no longer see the same deal when I look at the phones. The Verizon site also says deals are coming on Nov 18, so I'm hoping this will be one of them and it was active for a short time by accident today.

But I do see how it disappearing resulted in all the negative votes.

Edit: I've reported it as expired so no one else wastes time trying this.
