The performance of the new N4500 CPU is noteworthy for this Chromebook because in the Chrome OS world this CPU manages to position itself well above the prior Atom generations (showing 50% performance gains over the prior generation N400):

This places the newest N4500 Chromebooks in the middle of what had historically been a very wide gap from the basic but functional Intel Atom Chromebooks and the premium i-series CPU models. This gap wasn't necessarily meaningful for many users, since Chrome OS isn't particularly CPU intensive. However, getting near-premium performance this close to the $200 price point is an exciting development.
Good luck!

a good price might be $130, not $230.

I posted this (and bought one!) because I have been looking for a Chromebook for awhile, and it seems very hard to get a FHD IPS screen with an N4020 or better for under $250. You either get one or the other, not sure why they do that... HP has 14 inch models with Pentium chip and 720p screen (why?!?), N4020 and 720p screen or N4000 with 1080p. Most of the sub $250 versions have 720p screens or worse (720p TN instead of IPS!).
I have a Windows laptop with a touch screen, and its more annoyance than useful. I never flip it around to use as a tablet. And as a regular laptop, I don't need to go between mouse/keyboard and the touch screen. The annoyance part is that if I flip the screen back too far, it auto goes into touch mode and disables the keyboard. Of course, your use cases may vary, esp with Chrome/Android apps that are more optimized for touch screens.
For me, the other plus on this deal is that it is from Costco. When my kids needed laptops for school, they each got Costco HP 14s shortly after school resumed in 2020. One broke down last week. Screen went black and never came back, no idea why. Called Costco Concierge, and while it was not perfect... they are sending a box for us to return for repair/replacement. The good: the people seemed semi-knowledgeable about laptops (or had good scripts). They were friendly. There was NO hold time. The minus: There was a mixup about the warranty. The L1 rep said our HP warranty had expired and sent us to Concierge repairs. the L2 rep said our HP warranty actually extends to the end of the month and therefore we need to deal with HP (which Costco coordinates). So there was a few days delay, but other than that, it was good service.
