I have a D5 from three years ago. Still runs fine even after running over bug sticky traps, these things are tanks. That said I have a roborock s7 now because of the self empty bin.
Neato has a new software platform that isn't compatible with these older generation bots (D5,D6,D7). It appears that Neato won't be supporting these models. The last time the Android app was updated was in 2019.
I've had the same Neato D3 since November 2018. I can't tell you how much I love this darn thing. It doesn't have a side brush, and is louder than it needs to be, but he's still going strong!

Has nearto improved their bots? Everyone I've had either had the battery not last more than 10 min on a full charge after a few months, or updates bricked it. Good thing for Costco return policy but they stopped carrying them. My guess because people kept returning them. This was may 8 years ago.

I have a D4, love the mapping and such, but it has broken down several times, repaired it twice under warranty (once was a wheel, once was the lidar unit). Other wheel died this week. I think it is just under two years old. Would not recommend at $300.

I have had different models of Roomba and a neato d4 if I remember. As someone mentioned above they are built like tanks. You can get a replacement battery from Amazon, which is what I did after 2.5 years of using it, and it will be like brand new again if not better since the new battery is higher capacity.

Which battery did you get? I have the D5 and I think we are due for a new battery soon

I have two d'3 that are 5 years old. 1 on the original battery the other on a new battery. These are fantastic vacs and its disappointing neato hasnt kept up. My only compliant with my D3's is they use a cheap rubber band to spin the lidar that stretches out over time. its a $2 part and take about 15-30 minutes to replace your 1st time.

Yeah it's odd. It doesn't look like a mistake or anything.
