The box was sealed and looks legitimate. The writing on the box and manual were only in Chinese, so this appears to be for the Chinese market. Starting up the device it lets me choose English and everything looks good.
I downloaded Huawei Health from the Google Play store. Immediately I had to install 3 firmware updates to the watch. Because Huawei is now restricted from doing business in the US, the app in the play store is outdated, and you have to update the Health app from Huawei's site. Not crazy about that, but the file didn't trigger any virus alerts.
The band comes with a few pre-installed watch faces, but to install more you need to install the Huawei Gallery App, which is Huawei's app store (similar to google play). I had to temporarily set the health app location as India to remove the restrictions on the US. Then I can see online clock faces. I installed a bunch then uninstalled the Gallery App and the core service it came with.
The band itself it's very nice for $40. The software looks decent. The biggest hassle is trying to install new watch faces.
Now just to make sure that the battery is giving me at least 7-10 days with continuous heart and O2 measurements.
