No, the 8 series is now the 8K TVs and review outlets show it has major advantages over the 6 series not just being 8K over the 4K. Reviews have been great on both series though. I'd be happy with either.

I had the Roku 635 version and Google 646 version. Picture is nearly identical but the 646 has HDMI 2.1 so you can game in 4k at 120hz. The trade off is the Google vs Roku. Every time I say Ok Google to my home devices the tv pauses and doesn't always resume playback on its own. I had to disable to microphone until they fix the issue. Google TV is okay but I wish I had the 646 hardware with the 635 software.

Finally pulled the trigger with 5 years warranty.. lowest price I've seen for this set.. chase has 5% cb on walmart.com Btw
edit.. cancelled the order after noticing this was last year's model..

R635 was considered to have better software and algorithm for mini led

Somehow the r646 isn't giving people results due to black crushing or backlight Inconsistencies

It is tempting to get this for roku for those who want it

There is no new TCL 8 series in North America
They do have an 8K 6 series

There's not that much difference between the two models. Its basically the same TV but with ROKU and maybe a bit worse blooming.

It's different from what FOMO channel was saying with black crushing on r646 than the more balanced less aggressive picture of r635

He was stating that r646 needs more calibration out of the box

this is not entirely true. the 646 has many differences check rtings.

TCL is more reliable than Hisense. It's been around for longer in the us selling TVs and makes more TVs. I think that has some weight
