I have a question about the 55 inch version of this tv. On the amazon web page, if you have the CapitalOneShopping extension, it tells you that you can get this tv for $157 cheaper somewhere else.

Amazon lists the 55 inch version for $774.99. If you click that green CapitalOne link on the webpage, it takes you to its comparison page in which it shows the Walmart.com listing.

For some reason, the math is wrong, its almost like as if they're are comparing the Amazon price after tax versus the Walmart price before tax + with the cashback.

So there can't possibly be a $157 price difference. I understand that.

What I am confused about is how the CapitalOneShopping page is showing that there's a 9% Cashback for this product.

When you click the link to go buy it at Walmart, the product page will show the CapitalOneShopping extension showing a 9% cashback. I took a screenshot of it:
https://i.imgur.com/fJ59imC.png

But if you go to the details link to see the CapitalOneShopping page for Walmart, it only mentions a max 2% cashback, and that is only in select categories. For electronics its 0.5% cashback. There's no mention of a 9% cashback, but the extension clearly shows 9%.

I went ahead and got one through Walmart, to see if CapitalOneShopping is going to go through with the cashback. Odd thing is that I activated the cashback, and then went through checkout and completed the checkout, and it never gave me a confirmation, it still said "Activated" whenever I clicked the extension icon.

If you go to Amazon's 65 inch version of this tv (the OP's link) CapitalOneShopping doesn't even compare it to Walmart's listing.

Does anybody have any idea of when CapitalOneShopping confirms a transaction and shows its calculated cashback amount?

The Walmart.com listing for the 65 inch version also shows the 9% CapitalOne cashback, as well.

Amazon has it listed incorrectly...this R635 is actually a 2020 model. The 2021 model is the R646.

Definitely clearing out the old Roku stock. They switched to Android TV for the newest model, the 646 and apparently the 646 model is superior in almost every way. Personally I have an older 6 series with Roku and the OS is terrible. Nothing but problems with it no matter how many times I reset it, etc. I would steer clear of this model if you aren't planning on using another smart device with this TV, and/or would like to avoid headaches since the OS impacts every operation of the TV. Furthermore, the ROKU OS support for this device will be minimal if anything going forward.

You might not have had a great experience, but overall the generalization comment is highly inaccurate.

I have numerous Roku devices including 2 Roku TVs, one that is 5 yeas old and still gets updates. Not a since Roku that I use has ever had issues or needed resetting. We have also used the Fire devices, AppleTV, and the Google Chromecast with Google TV.

Also, TCL isn't switching to Google TV, they are going to continue using both.

We actually have more issues with the CCwGTV devices then any others.

Actually, it's really specific, to the TCL 55615 unit I bought a few years ago. My TV hasn't received an update in well over a year, it is also a 6 series which is the same as this TV. Seems perfectly relevant.

Fair enough about using both OS, but again, I would avoid this unit based on my past experience with the brands Roku and TCL.

It seems the 646 is the better tv this time around, the roku version doesn't handle the 10bit gradient as well.

This doesn't matter to everyone. but "pq" standpoint, I'd say go for the 646.

Roku os is still the better choice for PC use. android system is a pita for changing settings/brightness

But this is not accurate as updates have been released numerous times for your tv and would for this one posted. "if you aren't planning on using another smart device with this TV, and/or would like to avoid headaches since the OS impacts every operation of the TV. Furthermore, the ROKU OS support for this device will be minimal if anything going forward."

My Roku TV's just got the 10.5 update. You should at least have Roku version 10 on your tv which came out about 6 months ago.

Also from Roku's site:

Roku TV – All Roku TV models are expected to receive Roku OS 10.5.

https://support.roku.com/article/228844467

Also, if you get the newest Google TV one, be sure to update it. People were having issues but looks like a patch has been released:

ALERT:
RESOLVED: Software issues with TCL 6-Series TVs featuring Google TV
With the launch of TCL's new 6-Series featuring Google TV, some users reported concerns about the stability of select streaming services. At TCL, we are committed to delivering premium products with world-class customer experience and therefore, with a new software update released to 6-Series TVs featuring Google TV in the week of September 12, 2021, the performance of this model now better reflects the excellent experience our customers are used to. Your television should update automatically, but if you would like to ensure you have the most recent software, click here to view step-by-step instructions on how to easily perform an update.

Maybe you got a bad one? I'm coming up on 2 years with my TCL 6-series and I haven't had any issues with it.
And sadly with the lockdown, it's had a lot of hours racked up on it. It was basically on all day since March 2020.

I was hesitant about buying a TCL but I have zero regrets at this point. It's not perfect but I still find myself being awed by the picture quality when the source is right.
