After reading these reviews since launch date, I don't think Amazon can pay users to get them cleared out. This was a failed product at the beginning. Cool concept but it was rushed out the door before the cake was fully baked. The potential is there but it's not ready to be used.

Thanks for posting this. Not the best reviews but I'm gonna try one to check call voice quality in my non-bluetooth equipped vehicles. Been really happy with the Kinivo BTC-450 for years but adding Alexa might be useful.

It's not that great, the other person hears the echo during the call.

I have one and it's a love/hate thing. Cool concept but if you like repeating yourself constantly and constant drops with your phone....this thing is for you. On second thought, I hate it.

What's the difference between running the Echo Auto, Echo Dot or Echo Input in a vehicle? I've got a few Echo Inputs laying around that I'm not using for anything.

The Echo Auto doesn't need its own internet connection. It uses your phone's internet connection over bluetooth. You could probably accomplish similar with a Dot or Input, but you'd either have to leave hotspot on all the time on your phone or set up Tasker or something to automatically start your hotspot while driving, unless your car has its own wifi hotspot.

Thanks, didn't even think about thatSmilie Now that I think about it, I don't think my Alexa home devices allow Bluetooth calling when connected to my phone.

Sure others may have had success, but this things performance varies based on the car audio system you have.

It's a total crapshoot and I just was never able to get this to work properly.

Even at $15 it's not worth it in my view…

Have this in my non-smart 2011 vehicle. Love it. My vehicle does have Bluetooth but this is incredibly convenient for hands free calling and to stream my prime music unlimited.

you don't. Echo Auto connects to your phone. it's basically a very good far-field mic with dual Bluetooth and the hardware to listen for the wake word.

people hate them because you could just use the app (and in 2019 it was terrible) but they're missing the "always on" availability.

A perfect example of my drive home: Tell Alexa to open my music app a total of 3 times before it actually responds and does what I ask. And I know Alexa heard me because the blue light responded.

Next: I ask Alexa to navigate to my local Fed Ex so I can drop off a package on the other side of town. Responds that it's getting directions....and does nothing. I did this a total of 5 times. Finally I had to pull over and do it manually through Google Maps when I was already halfway to my destination. THEN Alexa Auto decides to get directions. After arriving and dropping off my package, Alexa refuses to stop navigation and keeps trying to redirect me back to where I just was. Finally I just unplugged it. It is so unbelieveably frustrating.

I hate Alexa Auto. I really and truly do.
