All DeWalt battery powered tools are MAX*, even the XRs. Max is simply a reference to the battery voltage being reported as fully charged without a load versus the actual operating voltage. In other words, 20v MAX*=18 volts.

"*Maximum initial battery voltage (measured without a workload) is 20 volts. Nominal voltage is 18."

In this kit, it appears that only the circular saw is XR.

Great deal. Bought this for 215 from amazon as a PM. It's come in very handy as a homeowner who does projects around the home.

Edit: Looks like this set only includes one XR tool. Amazon set were all XR. Looks to be a good deal after all.

You are correct about the mislabeling but not about the Max part. Dewalt tools are 12, 18, 20, or 60V Max. I believe what you meant to point out is that this set is the "Brushless" line and not the XR.

The number of mix and match combos being offered by DeWalt can make comparisons difficult, but not impossible. This XR circular saw with a 2AH battery seems to be an odd matchup. The other tools in this kit are not XR - odds are you will be using them more than the saw. It may not matter for the typical homeowner, but the DeWalt "XR" is a more 'professional' version... do your homework so you're not disappointed. You will never regret paying a few bucks more for the XR line.
