I read somewhere it has some undocumented feature to enable recording? Does anyone know? This or any other with recording ability?

The software issues with the Onn were fixed in the August 2021 update. Had mine for weeks, and not a single problem. My chromecast with google tv (on an earlier update...June?) gets hinky and puts a white shade on the output. Fixed with a restart.

This should cost less than the Onn, not 50% more!

Sorry that you're getting the usual slickdeals welcome.

As far as I know, none of these have a recording capability like a dvr, but you can use apps like Slingtv and youtube tv to record shows, and watch them with one of these devices.

Not this one though. Get the Onn from walmart or the chromecast with google tv from google. If you order the latter, you can get it with six months of netflix (new or existing) for about $90. That makes it about $9 if you're a netflix subscriber.

See folks? You can help someone just as easily as hitting that dislike button.

There is no reason to buy this. The Onn 4k box and Tivo 4k Stream both have the same hardware for $10-15 less or even cheaper depending on local Walmart prices for the Tivo. The Onn has been greatly improved since the recent update and comes with an almost vanilla install of Android TV. Tivo can be debloated by following some steps and provides support for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. The Chromecast with Google TV is only $5 more with the Sling deal (even cheaper with cash back) and will have decent long term software support. Any of those three would be better alternatives.

Walmart clearance had them for $15 but seems all stores are OOS . Resellers got ahold of them around me cleared out 5 stores that had 10+ in each store lol
