I bought the 500GB version of this drive last time it came up on SD. it seemed plenty fast to me on Raspberry Pi 4.

But there is one problem with it on my RPi4: this thing is inoperable during power up for a longer period of time (a second or two) than my USB HDD. Totally unexpected, as SSD drives are usually extremely quick for everything, including being the first drive to come online during power up.

A second or two delay at power up wouldn't ordiinarily be a big deal, but on the Raspberry Pi 4, the first drive to come up is automatically choosen as the drive to boot from (there is no BIOS on a RPi4). That means I wind up booting from my HDD instead of the faster SSD.

The label on the bottom of the drive says "5V 2A," but I bet it actually uses much less power than that on average because this drive runs just as cool to the touch as the excellent Samsung 860 EVO that I have (5V 1.2A according to Samsung's label).
How is this slow? What's your definition of slow? This drive is faster than most sata ssds. I've had mine for over a year now and use it for gaming. You won't notice the difference between pcie and sata ssds in gaming. I know because I recently bought their 2tb pcie 3 about a month ago and moved all my games over. I can't tell at all, I'm sure if I use a stopwatch the gen3 will be faster, but not by much.
i don't notice any difference in speed between this and my 860 evo.

Bought one of this BF2020 at about the same price. It is slow. I didn't do any measurements but I can tell you it is slowwwww.
Is it really any much slower than its competition in the space of SATA III SSDs?

Going to get MX500 instead since it's the same price after 10% cash back (vs 5%) and comes with Acronis which I'm used to already. Performance seems about identical. For laptop the P31 is a bit more efficient/probably runs a bit cooler.

Interesting! I also had Hynix S31 512 absolutely refuse to boot WinXP whereas it booted just fine on Crucial BX500. Weird incompatibilities ...

That's crazy informative (NOT!!! Big Grin ) This one really is a fast SATA SSD, as fast as it gets in this space.

NOTHING beats cloning via a bootable USB Linux stick. Highly efficient, and customizable !

Bought at this price last BF, no complains.
TBH 1TB is kinda small for today's SATA SSD, wish they had released the 2TB version like they did with P31. If you are looking for 2TB like I do, Sandisk/WD Blue would be your bestbet when on sale at Bestbuy, will stack with 15% recycle coupon

I'm not even a data hoarder and all my videos/photos are in HDD. Just games will eat up quick. Every AAA game is getting close to ~100ish GB, and there's crazy games like Microsoft Flight Simulator. I mean one can definitely focus on one game, play it thru then delete before installing a new one but that's not what I prefer.
