These have been $259 for quite some time and I was waiting for the price to drop for the holidays to expand my PS5. I was happy to see that both the regular model and model with included heatsink both dropped to $229.99. I, of course grabbed the heatsink version (even though it won't fit in the PS5), to trade with my friend who has an extra smaller one on hand.
This price is available across the board(though $5 more at Best Buy w/ heatsink) at B&H, Amazon, Best Buy and PNY direct. I went with B&H, personally, because I still had the $375 in gift cards that a lot of us bought with the $75 off PayPal offer.

Works for PS5 if you have the Beta 2.0 system software. FYI Your expansion slot is not turned on if your not part of the the Beta or until the public version is released. The more popular and more expensive brands were sold out. I didnt want those anyway but was a little concerned I might miss some important spec requirements if I went with a non officially approved brand. This PNY met all the specs so I gave it a shot. Im glad I did as I got a $550 solution for $300. The more expensive brands were 7000 MB per sec this one is just over 5600 (min 5500) and it works great, If your looking for a less expensive option this is the key. It is installed, running and has 1TB of games loaded on it in my system right now. Works flawlessly! You will need to get your own heatsink. I used MHQJRH for a perfect fit.

If so, does that mean that they perform as max speed 3.0 drives?

The feature is out of beta. Anyone can use it
Yeah mainly I was posting for info about how it works and that you'd need a smaller heatsink
The heatsink can be removed by unscrewing a few screws.
