The average person is streaming Netflix and can't tell the difference.
We bought the 70" Samsung for our mom and it looks the same as our Samsung 85" qled. My sister has OLED and the average person can see the difference with that.
I would not waste money on qled. Go to the store and look at them side by side, it's really hard to see the difference.
OLED is worth it though.
I like the Samsung software. It was super easy to set up the TV with her Galaxy Note 10 Plus. And it has smart features too!
We originally bought the RCA from Target for $500 but returned it for Samsung. No regrets so far!
I spent weeks researching this gift for her.
My TV crapped out few weeks ago; not an average user and 65inch is more than enough for me.
Samsung UHD tv's does the upscaling and they are mostly regular LED's. I will probably not be using TV's software because I have an external 4k streamer. I have been researching a good TV for display only.
Initially, I thought of OLED which is currently expensive, sony especially.

We all use Nvidia Shield TV Pro.
I would get OLED or the entry level LED. QLIED is a gimmick.
I've had a good experience with vizio, but I rarely use the apps built in. I usually just cast from my phone apps. RTings gives the vizio quantum m series an overall score of 7.7 compared to the 70" Samsung (UN70TU6985FXZA) which is 6.9.
I was searching in the older deals, it looks like this was at $599 or black friday price about a 3 weeks ago at samsclub. What a gimmick, they increase it and then decrease it to show as a sale during this holiday

It's still a pretty good price overall. I know the Vizio may not have the best picture quality, but the build quality for panel is definitely better than Hisense or TCL. I've seen numerous reports of dark spots or other quality issues. Not to bag on those models because I know they're superior in their own right.
Wonder if Chinese VIZIO brand is any good. The Vizio P series seems to be top-end almost the cost of big brands
Several complaints on Korean brands Samsung and LG's.
I had sharp which crapped out in less than 7 years.
The $600 70" Samsung we got my mom replaced her 50" Panasonic plasma she bought new from 2005. It's actually still working great! She's going to clean it up and sell it on Craigslist

The later model Panasonic plasmas are still hard to beat for 1080p content. The black levels and viewing angles are only rivaled by OLED today. I see the larger models go for between $150-$250 on Craigslist. The only drawbacks are that they are heavy and run hot.
