128GB (headline) version:

Twofer ($17.99)

256GB version (also $17.99):

Here's a link to someone who benchmarked this thing so you can get an idea of its transfer speeds. Appears to outperform its own claims (130MB/s) on read, but be a bit slow on write:

My 64GB and my 128GB of this exact same drive failed right at 1 year. Great for a year though.
eh, mailing back for 8 bucks just didn't seem worth it. That also doesn't bring back any data a person might lose in the drive's failure.

Like I said, a good drive for a year, but don't leave anything important on it.
Has anyone found a USB flash drive that they're actually happy with for regular consumer use? Like reasonable read *and* write performance, decent reliability, decent price? Seems like everything these days is either disappointingly slow or unreliable.

Is this a better deal than SanDisk 128G USB 3.0 for 10.99 in Best Buy?

Some of the comments (I know, do your own research and make your own conclusion) mention that c188 has a problem with sustained transfer speeds with large files and recommend the c175. The 128 GB model is currently on sale for $10.99 but backordered until December.

Neither if you need to transfer large files. This drive has USB caching issues, and will show down to a crawl after a few seconds with a large file. The SanDisk will do the same due to thermal throttling as it overheats. If you're going to only put small files on it, like word documents, either is fine.

I think people have had better experience with Samsung drives, but I personally haven't really used flash drives often. Hopefully someone can comment on this. I'd like to know if there is anything out there. Would be nice to have one of these for on the go media storage without having to carry around a hard drive or SSD.

Lol

Get one of each brand and you may find that they all have inconsistent read write speeds. What you don't want to have is something that crawls down to USB 1.0 speeds. I have some drives where if they can sustain over 60mbps I'm happy with that.

If you want fast storage. Get one of those m.2 to usb 3 sleds and attach an m.2 drive to it. Depending on your usb and m.2 drive you can get 200-400mbps speeds.

Maybe you have a spare ssd laying around. Convert to a usb external storage drive with an adapter.

Nowadays, it is best to have important data in two different places....
